Viagem de Nordeste - Viagem dos Sonhos.

eerst en vooral over nieuwjaarsavond ; ik denk dat myn facebook-status het nog het best samenvat, dus smyt ik die er snel even op, reden ; tydsgebrek (:
"Noor Wille had de eerste seconde van 2010 zand onder haar voeten, en op de achtergrond vuurwerk & het ruisen van de zee. 15 min hakken dragen om dan uiteindelyk de rest vd avond op blote voeten op het strand rond te tjollen. de eerste zonsopgang van het jaar, en 7 keer over een golf springen om een wens te doen. teveel willen genieten van de eerste zon, om tegen het twaalfde uur van 2010 al verbrand te zyn. eu amo Brasil! ♥"
dus daar is iedereen nu ook weer over mee (: nieuwjaar was speciaal, anders, en echt zalig! :D

en dan nu over myn titel:
morgen om 12u30 plaatselyke tyd, vertrekt myn vliegtuig richting São Paulo, om van daar een hele rondtrektocht (niet letten op de raarheden; myn Nederlands gaat van kwaad naar erger--) door het noordoosten van Brazilië te maken ..
voor de geïnteresseerden zal ik even het programma erop zetten ;

Jan 07th – Thursday SÃO PAULO / BRASILÍA

Breakfast (included) for exchange students staying at the hotel in São Paulo.

07:00am – Departure in São Paulo

10:00pm – Arrival in Brasília and check in at the hotel.

Dinner (included) – on the road.

Orientation Meeting: We will give all the details and information about the trip with the presence of AFS chaperone, Belo Brasil trip coordinator, academic doctor and monitors. Through this meeting you will be prepared to fully enjoy this fantastic trip.

Jan 08th – Friday BRASÍLIA

09:00am – City tour.

City tour in Brasília will go through the “Congresso Nacional”, the “Três Poderes” Square (where the “Palácio do Planalto” is, from where the President governs) and the “Palácio da Alvorada”, the President official residence.

Visit to the beautiful Cathedral of Brasília, to the “Esplanada dos Ministérios”, to the President Juscelino Kubitschek Memorial and the famous ecumenical temple of LBV (“Legião da Boa Vontade”) where we are going to visit the 7 Points Pyramid with the largest crystal found in Brazil.

Jan 09th – Saturday BRASÍLIA/LENÇÓIS

07:00am – Departure from Brasília to Lençóis!!!

10:00pm – Arrival in Lençóis and check in at the hotel.

The “Chapada Diamantina” is the great natural spectacle in Bahia. Just amazing !!!

Jan 10th – Sunday LENÇÓIS

08:00am – Departure in our bus for a super-day, full of adventures! You will go for swimming, do trekking and explore caves!

We will go to the Mucugezinho River and after that a super-waterfall: “Lapa Doce” Cave and finally, we will do a trekking up the “Pai Inácio” Hill (where we find the best view of the Chapada). Bring your snack.

009:00pm – Capoeira Show!!! You can join the Capoeira Class after the presentation.

Jan 11th – Monday LENÇÓIS

08:30am – Walk to “Ribeirão do Meio” (natural slide) where you can slide down a waterfall into the natural pools.

In the afternoon you can choose between stay at the hotel enjoying the swimming pool and nature or do a walk to the “Areia Colorida” Cave.

Jan 12th – Tuesday LENÇÓIS / SALVADOR

09:00am – Departure from Lençóis to Salvador.

02:30pm – Arrival in Salvador – Praia do Forte

Visit to the beautiful and important Tamar Project (it defends the protection of sea turtles, and has breeding tanks where you find turtles, visitor’s center, museum and a beautiful souvenir shop) at Praia do Forte. It is a success on sea fauna preservation.

Also take a walk on the charming village of Praia do Forte with its colorful shops, ice-cream shops with typical Northeast fruits ice-creams – try the delicious cajá ice-cream - coffee places and also the famous typical food from Bahia: Acarajé!

Jan 13th – Wednesday SALVADOR (waar ik dus woon!^^)

08:00am – Departure for the cultural city tour through the Central Market (an excellent market with many handcraft works and capoeira show) and the “Cidade Baixa” walking by the wonderful coastline of Salvador.

After visiting the market we will follow on foot to the Historical Center of Pelourinho. We will go up taking the Lacerda elevator, it has 72m height and link the “Cidade Baixa” to the “Cidade Alta”. At the top of Lacerda Elevator, at the City Hall Square, you will see one of the most beautiful views of the capital city: the “Baía de Todos os Santos” that has to fund the Itaparica Island.

02:00pm - Visit to the Historical Center of Pelourinho (it is a neighborhood with historical buildings of XVII and XVIII centuries with narrow streets where it is located The First Medicine University Of Brazil (1808).

Through the streets of “Pelô” you can find history, art, party, the rich and beautiful “Convento de São Francisco de Assis” (1587), which has the largest quantity of gold from Brazil in baroque paintings and the Museum of the Bahia writer Jorge Amado. Between an alley and other we are contaminated by the vibrant rhythms of the “axé” music, the “samba-reggae” and the african-brazilian rhythm!

The local life-way and its culture allow us to experience, as a native, this unique experience of a neighborhood inhabited mostly by descendants of black slaves from Africa that came to Brazil at the colonization period.

Curiosity: the name Pelourinho was borrowed from the columns where the slaves and criminals were whipped by the end of the nineteenth century. The pillories were disabled with the abolition of slavery.

Then we will visit the “Dick do Tororó”, where the sculptures of the 7 Orixás and the “Farol da Barra” are located. At the “Mercado Modelo” and the shops of Pelourinho you will find the original Capoeira Pants and also the real “berimbau” (sound instrument played at Capoeira Shows).

Jan 14th - Thursday SALVADOR

8:00am - Departure for a wonderful boat ride to the “Ilha dos Frades”.

It will go through several islands in the “Baía de Todos os Santos”, with a stop for swimming in the semi-deserted beach of “Ilha dos Frades”. We will make a picnic on the beach! (Each one takes his/her snack).

04:00pm – Return to Salvador going straight to the hotel for a nice shower!

Jan 15th - Friday SALVADOR / RECIFE

08:00am – Departure to Recife.

09:00pm – Foreseen arrival in Recife.

Jan 16th – Saturday RECIFE / PORTO DE GALINHAS

Plenty of sunshine, with beautiful beaches, a sea of warm water and much joy! This is Pernambuco!

09:00am - Enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches of Brazil: “Porto de Galinhas”!

It is a beach of green warm and clear water, with natural pools filled with colorful fish, excellent for snorkeling (only done at low tide) and quiet raft rides (extra cost).

In Porto de Galinhas there is a charming village with many gourmet restaurants and shops with beautiful handcrafts. It’s great!

Party: Carnival Party!!!

Jan 17th - Sunday RECIFE

08:00am – Departure for city tour in the “Brazilian Venice”.

We will go through the neighborhood of “Recife Antigo” (streets with colorful houses), “Parque das Esculturas”, “Praça da Pepública”, “Marco Zero” (downtown) and also the “Casa da Cultura”, an old prison that today serves as handcraft fair.

02:30pm – Visit to Olinda (World Heritage City). Its houses and streets from the seventeenth century are stage of the most lively, colorful and original Brazilian carnival. Olinda is known as one of the most beautiful historical cities in Brazil. And one of the most merrymakers ... Here reins another Brazilian music and dance style: the thrilling “frevo”!

Jan 18th – Monday RECIFE / FORTALEZA

08:00am – Departure to Fortaleza.

07:00pm – Foreseen arrival in Fortaleza and check in.

You can make the first visit to the great and excellent handcraft fair of “Orla da Praia de Meireles”. Do not forget to notice the charming and beautiful hammocks of Ceará. It is one of the best handcraft fairs of Northeast!!! We will have another day to visit this fair.

Jan 19th - Tuesday FORTALEZA

09:00am – Departure to the Cumbuco Beach.

45 minutes far from the city, Cumbuco is one of the most visited beaches in Fortaleza, because of its beauty and also the sand dunes.

Today you are going to enjoy yourself with many cool activities. Buggy ride through the sand dunes with a stop in the freshwater lagoon to do "skibunda" (get down from the sand dune sitting a board until you fall into the lagoon!) Here you will also have a nice and beautiful horseback riding through the great and beautiful Cumbuco Beach.

04:00pm – Cultural City Tour

We will leave to enjoy the late afternoon at the coastline, visiting the “Dragão do Mar” Cultural Center where it is located the “Museu de Arte Contemporânea e Memorial da Cultura Cearense”. Then we will follow to the metal bridge, with a beautiful view of the city coastline from where we can see dolphins! It is a nice place for a delicious ice cream made from Brazilian tropical fruits.

Jan 20th - Wednesday FORTALEZA / JERICOACOARA

Jericoacoara is isolated by dunes and rock walls and has one of the most beautiful beaches of Brazil! It seems like a rustic fishermen village with streets of sand. There are dunes of up to 30 meters, coconut trees and lakes! It is a heaven!

09:00am – Departure in our bus to the sensational town of Jericoacoara where we can find one of the most wonderful beaches of Brazil!

We will go to the small town of Jijoca, where we will leave our buses and take “jardineiras” to go through the dunes until we reach Jericoacoara, 28km later.

04:00pm - Foreseen arrival in Jericoacoara. Check in.

Jan 21th – Thursday JERICOACOARA

One more day at the paradise! Departure for the spectacular buggy riding through the beaches of “Jeri”, the sand dunes and freshwater lagoons, with stop for a great dive in the “Lagoa da Tatajuba” (included).

Jan 22nd – Friday JERICOACOARA

We suggest you to wake up at early morning to see the sunrise! Enjoy the day to rest at the hotel or walk and take sunbath in the beaches accompanied by one of the monitors.

At the end of the day we will go up to the top of a dune to see the wonderful sunset! Jeri is one of the only places in Brazil where the sun hides in the sea!

Visit to the village at night to buy souvenirs and handcrafts! Enjoy the time and take a delicious tapioca ice-cream!

Jan 23rd – Saturday JERICOACOARA / NATAL

07:00am – Departure to Natal.

08:00pm – Foreseen arrival in Natal and check-in.

Jan 24th – Sunday NATAL

08:00am – Departure to the cultural city tour visiting the “Forte dos Reis Magos”.

In 1598 the fort was occupied by the Dutch between 1933 and 1654. It has a format that reminds a 5 points star with overlooking to the sea. There is the landmark of the discovery of Brazil.

Then we will follow (optional tour) to the famous beach of Genipabu, where we will spend the day. Genipabu is a fishermen village with shops and buggy tours though the famous sand dunes You can also take horse back ridding or the exotic dromedary. Super-day!

05:00pm – Return to the hotel. We will GO straight to the hotel!

07:30pm – Typical Northeast dinner with cuisine of “sertão” (included).

Jan 25th - Monday NATAL / ARACAJÚ

09:00am – Departure to Aracajú.

09:00pm – Arrival in Aracajú and check in.

Jan 26th - Tuesday ARACAJÚ / ITACARÉ

Itacaré is today one of the beach destinations most seeked by young Brazilians and ecotourism lovers! At the same place there is the opportunity to visit semi-deserted beaches, walk through “Mata Atlântica”, swim beneath waterfalls and do rafting! A paradise on the south of Bahia!

Jan 27th - Wednesday ITACARÉ

Departure to enjoy the semi-desert and spectacular beach of “Itacarezinho”.

To get there we will walk through “Mata Atlântica”. We will spend our day at this tropical scenery!!

04:00pm – Return to the hotel. Time for a good shower!

Walk on the cherry “Rua da Pituba”, where you can find shops and many ice-cream shops – try the açaí ice-cream!

Jan 28th – Thursday ITACARÉ

09:30am – We are going to the famous Havaizinho Beach.

04:00pm – Return to the hotel and free time for a relaxing shower

Jan 29th - Friday ITACARÉ / PORTO SEGURO

In April, 1500, the Portuguese landed in a new world across the Atlantic. The beginning of our history changed the south of Bahia, but the friendly people and many of its beautiful landscapes still there as five centuries ago. You will see it!

08:00am – Departure to Porto Seguro.

03:30pm – Arrival in Porto Seguro and check in at the hotel.

Free afternoon to enjoy the swimming pool.

Jan 30th - Saturday PORTO SEGURO / TRANCOSO

08:30am – Departure to the wonderful beach of Trancoso.

A paradise! It is a semi-deserted beach with a beautiful surrounded by coconut palms. After the beach we will visit the charming village of Trancoso where it is worth to drink a Brazilian fruits juice at the famous “Praça do Quadrado”, with colorful houses, native residents and beautiful shops with hippie/chic style! From there we also have one of the most beautiful views of the Brazilian coast

04:00pm – Return to the hotel.

Jan 31st – Sunday PORTO SEGURO

09:00am – Visit to the historical city of Porto Seguro where it is localized the “Marco do Descobrimento” and the first village built in Brazil. After that we will follow to the “Coroa Vermelha” beach and the “Parque Histórico de Santa Cruz de Cabrália”.

The Pataxós indians inhabit in Coroa Vermelha, they descend from the Tupinambás that inhabited this part of the Brazilian coastline at the discovery time. In Santa Cruz de Cabrália is localized a cross that represents the first Mass held in the Brazilian lands. A show of history!

After that we will go to the “Barraca Axé Moi” beach in Porto Seguro, with great cheerfulness and Axé show – the rhythm of Bahia, where you can dance and have much fun!

04:00pm – Return to the hotel

Enjoy the afternoon to rest at the hotel or go the beach of “Arraial d’Ajuda”, enjoying the wonderful local view.

08:30am – Check out and departure to Vitória.

06:00pm – Arrival in Vitória and check in.

Feb 02nd – Tuesday VITÓRIA / RIO DE JANEIRO

09:00am – Departure to Rio de Janeiro.

05:00pm – Foreseen arrival in Rio de Janeiro, check in at the hotel

Visit to the famous Copacabana Art craft fair. You can find a lot of local handcraft work and buy souvenirs of the Marvelous City.

Feb 03rd – Wednesday RIO DE JANEIRO

07:30am – Cultural Tour – Historical Rio.

We will have a walking tour through the historic part of Rio de Janeiro, accompanied by specialized guides, visiting:

Teatro Municipal

Palácio Tiradentes

Time for a coffee break in the charming Confeitaria Colombo

Praça Imperial

Catedral de Nossa Senhora Candelária

Right after, we will visit the famous “Sambódromo” (official Samaba Parade Runway), Maracanã (soccer stadium). After we will follow to the modern neighborhood of Barra da Tijuca, making a stop at the Hard Rock Café Rio.

04:30pm – Visit to the world famous Sugar Loaf. You will face one of the most amazing landscapes of Rio de Janeiro. The tour has tow different parts: the fist one is going up to the top of the stone called Morro da Urca; the second one is going upper to the top of the charming and spectacular stone of the Sugar Loaf.

Feb 04th – Thursday RIO DE JANEIRO

Departure to IPANEMA BEACH !!!

In Ipanema, besides swimming and sunbathing, you can walk through the charming streets with great and famous “carioca” shops, enjoy sometime on the coffee places, visit the famous restaurant/bar “Vinícius de Moraes”, place where the world famous musician composed the great song “Garota de Ipanema” (Girl of Ipanema).

Return to the hotel for relaxing shower.

03:00pm – Departure to visit the splendorous Cristo Redentor with its sublime view of Baía de Guanabara and all Rio de Janeiro!!! Incomparable!! We will go up on the lift in the middle of the Atlantic Forest until we get in the top of the hill.

09:00pm – Dinner and co fraternization reunion.

Feb 05th – Friday RIO DE JANEIRO / SÃO PAULO

After breakfast the students living close to Rio de Janeiro will be board to their host cities. Belo Brasil will have monitors at the bus station and airports to assist the students and accompany the boarding.

07:00am – Departure to São Paulo.

02:00pm – Arrival in São Paulo and students drop off.
